In this first video, we provide an overview of the DIAMONDS4IF project and its goal to support the development of Innovation Fund-ready projects, particularly in the renewable energy sector.
We also provide an overview of the eligibility criteria for accessing the Innovation Fund grant scheme. Specifically, the European ETS Innovation Fund provides grants to support investments aimed at the decarbonization of European industry.
However, the Innovation Fund is not for everyone.
As a rule of thumb, companies that participate in the EU ETS can also apply for Innovation Fund grants. These are mainly carbon-intensive industries, such as chemical companies, steel and cement producers, but also include others like power plant operators. Recently, the maritime sector, aviation, road transport, and buildings have been added to the list, as they are part of the so-called ETS2.
Renewable energy generation and storage, as well as CO2 capture, usage, and storage applications, are also eligible. Finally, manufacturers that provide the technology needed for energy generation and storage can also participate.
Last but not least, the investment must be located in Europe.
A special thanks goes to Barbara Bendaoud, PNO Senior Consultant and European Grant expert, as well as to Andreas Potschin for his musical contributions, and to Nikola Markovic for his contribution to editing.
