Ca’ Pesaro, home to the International Gallery of Modern Art in Venice, presents ‘Raqib Shaw: Palazzo della Memoria’ in collaboration with White Cube.

Raqib Shaw makes work that depicts a fantastical world full of colour and intricate detail. The surfaces of his paintings are often embossed and bejewelled, capturing the textures of coral, foliage and flowers. This video shows Shaw at work on ‘La Tempesta (after Giorgione)’ and offers a glimpse into the many inspirations and motivations behind the painting.

The exhibition, curated by Sir Norman Rosenthal, presents 12 new paintings by the London-based artist. Many of the works on show draw from Italian and Venetian pictorial traditions with inspiration from Tintoretto, Giorgione, Pannini and others.

This exhibition is organised by Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia, Ca’ Pesaro – Galleria internazionale d’arte moderna in collaboration with White Cube.
