Linton Kwesi Johnson was born in Jamaica, 24 August 1952. He is credited as the first dub poet who drew his influences from the early Jamaican DJs and released a series of albums and poetry books. In 2002 he became the second living poet, and the only black poet, to be published in the Penguin Modern Classics series. Here he performs `Story' read in a patois style accompanied by Johnny T on the electric violin.
