[4K] TIDAL WAVE at Thorpe Park, join us on the wettest ride in the park as we plunge 85ft at a speed of 45mph in to the water below creating a huge tidal wave.

Tidal Wave is a giant shoot-the-chutes water ride which opened 7th April 2000 and was manufactured by Hopkins Rides. When the ride opened, it was the tallest water ride in Europe and retained the title until 2002, when Hydro at Oakwood Theme Park was opened.

From 2006 to 2009, the ride was sponsored by PZ Cussons. From 2010 to 2018 the sponsor was Dr. Pepper and since 2019 the sponsor has been Oasis.

The ride has a 26m (86ft) drop in to the water below reaching speeds of up to 45mph which creates a huge wave that not only soaks the riders in the boat but those standing on the 'soak zone' on the bridge and beyond.

Guests must be a minimum of 1.2m to ride Tidal Wave and the boats must contain at least 4 passengers before it can depart the station.

Thorpe Park is operated and owned by Merlin Entertainments and includes rides, a themed hotel, live events and Stealth, the UK's fastest rollercoaster.

After demolition of the Thorpe Park Estate in the 1930s, the site became a gravel pit managed by Ready Mix Concrete (RMC). When the pits were expended, RMC regenerated the site for leisure, opening Thorpe Park as an outdoor activity park in 1979. It has since grown into one of the major theme parks in the UK.

Major attractions include a large water ride Tidal Wave, a number of rollercoasters including Colossus, Nemesis Inferno, Stealth, Saw - The Ride, The Swarm, The Walking Dead: The Ride and Flying Fish. Other smaller attractions include a water area called Amity Beach and an Angry Birds themed land. It also has on-site accommodation, the Thorpe Shark Cabins.

The latest attraction is Black Mirror which opened in May 2021 although High Striker is set to open, possibly for the opening weekend, and a new Project is currently being built which if approved will feature the tallest coaster in the United Kingdom.
