Philosopher and author Ollivier Pourriol chats to Idler editor Tom Hodgkinson about the French art of taking it easy. Plus, we hear from Mark Vernon on love.
Ollivier Pourriol is a philosopher, writer and prize-winning novelist, who has been exploring the art of living, ambition and creativity for over twenty years. He has lectured at the Paris Philharmonie, the Maison de la Poesie and many cinemas, where his lectures mixing philosophy and cinema are widely attended. Throughout his work he explores the role of imagination in our lives, and easier ways to reach our goals. He lives in Paris, where he puts his ideas into practice over aperitifs with friends. Ollivier is the author of 'The French Art of Not Trying Too Hard' (Profile Books), a brilliant, Idler-friendly manual for avoiding overwork.
