On December 1st, 2020, the forest department officials were on a patrol in the Grassland area of Dhikala, when they found a treasure in the Jungle. Yes, they found 3 healthy tiger cubs resting with their mother deep in the forest. We got this confirmed news the next morning, on December 2nd, 2020. During the 4 hours safari, nobody heard any alarm calls or saw anything. At 10:09, when we were waiting in the grasslands for any last-minute surprises, there came an alarm call from near the “Mota-Sal” area. The spotted deer and monkeys all started welcoming the beast, who was still inside. Even up until this moment, we were not expecting to see these cubs. Suddenly, the Grassland Female jumped out of the bushes and pounced on a deer. After a failed hunting attempt, she called out her cubs to come out. What happened next, was magical.
Two cubs came out, and it is their first time to see a Tourist Jeep in the Jungle. One of them, bold and fearless, kept staring at us. The other one got intimidated by our presence and went it. Seeing his sibling, he followed too. Then came the mother, looked at us and called her cubs one more time. It felt like she told them not to be scared of us, for they are Tiger Cubs, the future Kings and Queens of the Jungle.
They came out one by one and gave us a sighting of a lifetime. It is always a happy feeling to see Tiger cubs in wild, as it is the most certain result of our efforts towards protecting the wildlife.
