Our Amiens Prediction for the 2018/2019 season.
Location:
Amiens (Northern Fance)
Manager:
Christophe Pélissier
Took over in 2014 when Amiens were in Ligue 2
Achieved promotion in 2016
This is their 3rd successive season in Ligue 1
Last Season:
13th
Only managed to score 37 goals in 38 games and conceded 42
Performed well against big teams (drawing to PSG and Monaco at home) but also slipping up and drawing at home to the 2 of the bottom Troyes and Toulouse.
Moussa Konaté was their top scorer in the league with 13 goals
Key Players:
Moussa Konaté – Senegalese Centre forward (Score 13 of their 37 goals) – Came off the bench twice during the World Cup
Thomas Monconduit – French Centre Mid and Captain
Transfers In:
Juan Ferney Otero – Centre Forward from Estudiantes (Arg) 1.9m
Matthieu Dreyer – Goalkeeper – from Caen – FREE
Eddy Gnahoré – Centre Mid – From US Palmero (serie B) LOAN
Transfers Out:
Tanguy Ndombele – Centre Mid to Lyon (where he was on Loan last season) 7.2m fee
Harisson Manzala – Right Mid – to Angers - 900K
Verdict:
The Bournemouth of Ligue 1. Decent manager who has taken them up and kept them in the top league for a few seasons on the bounce. They are very light on goals but manage to stay mid table off grinding out low scoring wins/draws and a decent home record.
Made a couple signings, but also let a lot of players go.
Could struggle with squad depth if they get injuries to key players. Especially Konate who scored 14 goals.
Prediction:
Narrowly avoid relegation as there are worse teams coming up – 13th – 15th
