Special guest and author Icy Sedgwick joins D.C. McGannon & C. Michael McGannon this week as they peel back the veil of the mythology and folklore of the Crossroads.
For many, it’s a place of worship, of sacrifice, of pondering and making major decisions, and also one of searching deep for truths and the meaning of life. For others it’s the very place to meet the Devil himself.
People have held a wide variety of beliefs about the crossroads throughout the centuries. Stories of witches, binding vampires, and supernatural endowment are plenty, as are the horrors of false accusation and torture, and even suicide.
From Greek mythology to faerie tales told on the back roads of England and Ireland, to all the way across the ocean in the swampy heat of New Orleans folk religions, the crossroads are a place where the mortal meets the divine, where the natural gives way to the supernatural, where gods and humans make eternal transactions of the soul, and where the veil between two worlds becomes thin.

I’m a creative storyteller, based in Newcastle upon Tyne. I blog about weird myths and folklore, and all things curious or bizarre. The odder the better!
But I primarily write fiction. I’ve written stories for as long as I can remember, and learned to type on my mum’s old manual typewriter…yet I still can’t master typing on a tablet. Go figure!
I’ve been writing for around 18 years now, and I’ve had several stories included in a range of anthologies, including Suspended in Dusk, European Monsters, Short Stack, Masks and Bloody Parchment: The Root Cellar & Other Stories. Huzzah!
My main genres are dark fantasy, Gothic horror, and Westerns.
