Data Modules are part of the new release of Cognos Analytics. They can be used to create metadata models against a variety of data sources, including desktop Excel spreadsheets and text files. Once defined, reports and dashboards can source their data from the Data Module.

Also integrated with Data Modules is a Natural Language Search capability, built on IBM Watson, which allows you to use intent-driven modeling to build your Data Module and reports.
