In this video you will learn about the floating tool for the EasyRoute CNC Router Machine and how to use it. In CNC machining, a floating tool, also known as a floating holder or floating head, is a device that allows the tool to move independently in multiple directions. It is typically used when working with irregular or uneven surfaces. The floating tool compensates for any variations in the workpiece's surface by adjusting its position, ensuring that the tool maintains proper contact and depth throughout the cutting or carving process.
The first step is to attach the floating tool to the right side of the CNC Router. The floating tool is attached and then locked in place. The floating tool is activated by using the menu on the control panel of the CNC Router. Using the navigation buttons, find the Machine Tool parameter in the settings. Under the IO Polarity settings, you will find the floating tool level. The value needs to be set at 0 as this is the default setting. The floating tool should now be activated.
After this step, the machine needs to either be rebooted or homed. We home the machine by pressing the OM button. We can now move the head to whichever part of the board that we like using the X and Y axis. Once we have the starting position, the next step is to reset the X and Y Axis to 0 by pressing the XY=0 button and pressing enter.
The floating tool is to adjust the Z axis, meaning the height between the tip of the spindle and the material.
We place a sample of material on the bed and we press “Shift + 9” to activate the alignment. The spindle will then lower until it touches the material.
