Japan Travel: Nisonin Temple site of Hyakunin Isshu compiled, Kyoto 089
Nisonin Temple is a hillside temple similar to Jojakkoji, but with slightly larger and imposing buildings. There is generally an understated atmosphere on the temple grounds, which is partly because of the overhanging trees along the walking paths. Nisonin is a temple of the Tendai sect founded in the mid 9th century. It affords a view over the city from the upper temple grounds.
