Learn what a river delta is and in addition learn how river deltas form. As a river travels it picks up sediments caused by weathering. As the river slows down the sediments settle and these deposits begin to build up. They may create a landform called a Delta. They are called Deltas because some have a triangle shape like the greek letter Delta.
