The Italian Cultural Institute in Hong Kong invited Street Artists Alice Pasquini and UNO as part of the HKWALLS Festival, now in its ninth edition in 2024.
The two Italian artists, alongside five other European artists, participated in the project "EU Street Art Meets Hong Kong: Green for Street", supported by the EUNIC Cluster Fund and selected from many proposals from the EUNIC Clusters present all over the world. The project, promoted by the EUNIC Cluster of Hong Kong (composed by the Italian Cultural Institute of Hong Kong and Macao, the Goethe-Institut, the Alliance Française and the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Hong Kong) has also received the support of the Delegation of the European Union in Hong Kong and Macao and the Consulates General of Belgium and Ireland.
During the Festival, held from March 22 to 31, Alice Pasquini presented her series of three works titled “Look UP Series”, while UNO created the mural “Polo Stellato”, which celebrates the 700th anniversary of the death of the great Italian explorer Marco Polo.
Together with Tron (Czech Republic), Seth (France), Hera (Germany), Jaune (Belgium) and Aches (Ireland), the two artists created a total of 17 murals connected to the main theme of the project, climate change, out of a total of 31 works created in the Central and Western District during this edition of the festival, which also involved artists from the United States, Mainland China and Hong Kong.
The festival program was enriched by conferences, workshops and art talks during which artists had the opportunity to share their creative process, their vision on the role of Street Art in culture-led urban regeneration actions and in the fight against climate change. Finally, guided tours in English and Cantonese allowed local and international audiences to discover the artworks and the values they express, as well as the areas of the city that have been enriched and regenerated by their presence (Western and Central District of Hong Kong, Kennedy Town area and Tsim Sha Tsui).
