We partnered with the Miami-Dade Pet Adoption and Protection Center to see if the Sony Animal Eye Autofocus actually works. Pet photography would get so much easier if it did. We show how to setup up the animal eye af and we tested it with the with the Sony a7riv and a Sigma 24-70 f2.8 DG DN with the help of our new Friends Monica and Lola, two beautiful pooches currently at the Miami-Dade Animal Services Pet Adoption and Protection Center.

The Sony a7riv and the sigma 24-70mm f2.8 art sony lens did a great job picking up the dogs’ eyes. This Sony camera feature isn’t a gimmick. I was amazed at how well it performed.

At the moment the animal Eye Detect AF is only available in stills mode and not in video mode, but hopefully, Sony will roll out a firmware update with that addition.
