This webinar-workshop was conducted by Dr Jason Anderson (University of Warwick, UK) for Anadolu University, Turkiye, in April 2024. It explores the origins of groupwork and pairwork in the Cooperative Learning movement in the USA. It investigates the key principles underlying cooperative learning and argues that we can make groupwork activities more effective if we stay mindful of these principles, including in ELT/TESOL classrooms. Example activities are shown and guidelines for effective groupwork and pairwork are provided.
