Q: Can one help others to seek rebirth to the Pure Land?

So there are two aspects to this question:

1. There's no agent between Amitabha Buddha and the recipient - for anyone who wants to seek rebirth to the Pure Land, one has to be mindful of Amituofo. It doesn't help if say one person is mindful of Amituofo in hope of helping the other person to seek rebirth but the other person is not mindful of Amituofo.

2. However one can help others to seek rebirth to the Pure Land by assisting Nianfo. The purpose of assisting Nianfo is to help remind the other person to be mindful of Amituofo particularly at the time of near death so he can seek rebirth to the Pure Land.

Assisting Nianfo maybe needed for people whose faith may not be deep enough and who don't practice so much in their life or who has never heard of Amituofo before but only at the time of near death.

For practitioners with good level of practice and deep faith one will know their time of rebirths in advance and no need for anyone to assist Nianfo. But one can invite others to come and Nianfo and also to witness their rebirths (like many rebirth cases we have seen).
