What is Periodisation?
Periodisation is the process in which annual training plan is divided into specific time blocks, where each block has a particular goal and provides the body of athletes with different types of stress. This process allows the athletes to create some hard training periods and some easier periods in order to recover.
Periodisation also helps in the development of different physiological abilities during various phases of training. It also promotes training effect, which consists of changes in athlete’s cardiopulmonary and musculoskeletal systems.
Types of Sports Training Cycles
1. Macro Cycle
2. Meso Cycle
3. Micro Cycle
