Native New Yorker Brooke Moriber knew what she wanted to do from an early age. “When I was 8 years old I heard my parents playing the cast album for Les Misérables. When the young girl came on singing ‘Castle on a Cloud’ I begged my parents to let me audition.” Little did her parents know that their daughter’s wish would turn into a career that would span the worlds of Broadway and Nashville to the New York Knicks and Cyndi Lauper.

Brooke began her career by snagging that starring role on Broadway as “Young Cosette.”

“When I was 15, I started focusing on writing my own music and a theatrical composer took an interest in my work. He helped me start licensing my songs to Nickelodeon and several of my tracks made it onto other network television and movie soundtracks.

Heralded by the Associated Press for her “clarion voice” whose songs were “destined for high rotation,”

Brooke's remarkable ability to juggle her career as both a recording artist and an actor led to her sharing the stage and screen with such performers as The Gin Blossoms, Cindy Lauper, and Alan Cumming, as well as singing the National Anthem for the New York Knicks. No less than The New York Times has praised her acting ability as Brooke went on to star in six other legit shows as well as several roles on TV and in film since that first audition.

“As a musician, I feel like my biggest accomplishment was successfully making the transition from Broadway performer to that of a respected writer who other well-known writers want to work with and making a second home for myself in Nashville.”

Spending a lot of time in Nashville and teaming with her producer, Fred Mollin, Brooke combined elements of pop, country, and rock in her songwriting and performing, and yet managed to create a sound unique and all her own for her upcoming release.

“I’m very excited about this new album because it sounds different than what everyone is doing right now,” she says. “We’ve come up with a sound mainly focused on live instrumentation with a couple of electronic effects just for atmosphere. I get to sing my face off with these arrangements as opposed to holding myself back.”

The result of these efforts is the album, Cry Like A Girl. Brooke explains, “I named the album after one of the lead tracks because that particular song has such a clear message that embodies the collection as a whole. It’s a statement about self-discovery and the strength that comes with embracing your emotions and allowing yourself to heal and grow. Human beings are resilient and I believe music can be the best reminder of that. I hope that the journey for the listeners can be as empowering and healing as it was for me to write it.”

Combining the vocal echoes of Linda Ronstadt, Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, and Lady Gaga, with the lyrical honesty of Billy Joel, Sara Bareilles, and Rachel Platten, Cry Like A Girl represents the best of modern pop music with the emotional connection and pyrotechnic vocals for which Brooke has become known.

The album’s lead focus track, also entitled “Cry Like a Girl,” will be released this Fall through The Orchard/Sony with the album soon to follow.

Brooke will be on tour promoting Cry Like A Girl throughout 2019.
