5,000 people live with Motor Neurone disease in the UK, this is according to NHS research. Under the condition, over the course of weeks, months and years, the body gradually worsens.
This can lead to muscle weaknesses and spasms, difficulty swallowing and cognitive changes. A man in York has lived with the condition 7 years now, that's 5 years longer, than the usual life expectancy.
