Mirror Now's Pramod Madhav speaks on the ousted former AIADMK Supreme Sasikala release date given through RTI reply. VK Sasikala known as Chinnamma within AIADMK took over the party after the demise of Jayalalitha on 5th December 2016. Sasikala was made the General Secretary of the party on 25th December 2016. Then CM O PanneerSelvam resigned in favour of her becoming Chief Minister.
Due to unknown political reason OPS after a 45-minute mediation in front of Jayalalitha's burial ground became a rebellion force against Sasikala. She was then convicted by Supreme Court and left for Parapanna Agrahara in February of 2017. After several political developments, including several IT raids, OPS and EPS faction joined hands, removing General Secretary post from the party and replacing with dual power posts as Convenor (OPS) and Co-Convenor (EPS).
But ripples were constantly seen over power struggle which only turned severe with any news about Sasikala's release. Now, Parapanna Agrahara prison authorities in a form of a reply to an RTI query has stated that her 'probable date of release would be 27th January 2021 if she paid the fine amount or 27th February 2022 if she doesn't pay the fine amount. Another line in the reply stated that subsequently, the probable date of release may vary if she utilizes parole facility. The information has definitely sent waves of confusion within the party.
