Amid the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza, tensions are rising in West Asia. Israel wants control of the Philadelphi Corridor but Egypt is no mood to cater to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s demands. As tensions escalate, Egypt is on the hunt for modern weapons, particularly fighter jets. Egypt hosted its first-ever international aviation exhibition in El-Alamein in August. Over 100 nations took part and showed their aircraft. After the expo ended, reports emerged that Egypt has bought the Chinese J-10 Fighter jets and rejected the American F-16 and F-15, Russian Su-27 and Su-25, and French Rafale. This comes as Cairo is miffed with the West over the war in Gaza and is unsure if Moscow will be able to deliver the jets. Meanwhile, Turkey is trying to sabotage the Chinese jet deal by offering Egypt a chance to buy and be a part of the Kaan stealth fighter jet program.
