A Florida triathlete using a drone to film an instructional video on Lake Thonotosassa caught the moment he swam right into what he believes was a 12-foot alligator.
The athlete, who goes by J.C. Defeats, says he tussled with the gator before he was able to swim toward a dock. Defeats was taken to a hospital by a good Samaritan.
WFTS reports Defeats underwent a six-hour surgery after sustaining serious injuries to part of his skull, jaw, arms, and torso.
