Antibiotics revolutionized modern medicine and saved countless lives, but the rise of antibiotic resistance threatens to undo this progress. Associate Prof. Dr. Anna Krasilnikova highlights the alarming emergence of superbugs—bacteria that resist treatment—leading to untreatable infections, prolonged illnesses, and escalating healthcare costs. This talk explores the science behind resistance, the societal and agricultural factors driving it, and its implications for global health. Through compelling examples and actionable insights, Dr. Anna emphasizes the need for innovation, policy changes, public awareness, and international collaboration to address this escalating crisis and preserve antibiotics for future generations.
