Biruni Institute and the US Embassy Kabul hold a successful policy dialogue on “Peace & Economics”. The overarching theme of the event was “peace and economics” with a focus on the economic elements of a peace deal and the post-settlement economic recovery in Afghanistan.
Participants and speakers at the event stressed the need for the international community’s help after a peace deal with the Taliban. The “Policy Dialogue on Peace & Economics” brought to light a number of key economic opportunities and challenges facing the economy with an aim to stimulate a public dialogue on key economic policy issues and business environment fundamentals that are required to enable economic recovery after a potential peace settlement.
Achieving economic growth, fiscal stability and improving business climate were some of the main issues discussed by a number of prominent speakers during the event.
The event was attended by a large and diverse group of participants from the Government, donor community, academia, business community civil society, members of the parliament, media, and former members of the Taliban movement.
