Australian consumers need to continue supporting small businesses struggling with inflationary pressures, says Council of Small Business Owners Chairman and Director Matthew Addison.
He said as interest rates rise small businesses must choose between increasing their prices or restricting trade.
“What we’re seeing from small business at the moment – businesses are choosing to keep their doors closed rather than open them,” Mr Addison told Sky News host Amanda Stoker.
“They have to reduce their number of hours, restaurants that are working only in the evenings and not at lunchtime anymore.
“We’re asking consumers to support their small business – keep buying from us because if you keep our revenue in place, we don’t have to put our price up.”
