Located in the heart of Rome, the ancient Roman Forum was the political, religious, social, and economic center of the ancient city. It was filled with temples, basilicas, and triumphal arches celebrating Roman deities, rulers, and history. Like all of Rome, the Forum fell into ruin with the collapse of the empire but has been gradually excavated over the last few centuries. Today it serves as a spectacular open air archeological museum!
