At the September Strasbourg Plenary, I spoke on the War in the Gaza Strip.
Over 6 months ago, the Irish Government called for an urgent review of the EU-Israel Association Agreement. Time has since passed, thousands of innocent Palestinians have been killed yet the Commission has failed to answer Ireland’s calls.
The EU is Israel’s largest trading partner, with the Agreement worth over €46bn last year.
One of the essential components of the Agreement is a respect for human rights.
Following on from a letter I sent to President Von Der Leyen, I once again urgently call for an immediate review of the Agreement.
The EU’s response to this war is a defining moment for us all.
