After abrogation of Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir was put under an intense communication blockade.

The centre suspended internet services in Jammu and Kashmir, fearing for the law and order situation. In the first week of March 2020, the authorities restored internet services, but restricted the speed to 2G. Kashmiri students are finding it very tough to continue their education because of the low-speed internet. Students face the added burden and pressure of online classes and exams with low internet connection

The students of Kashmir have paid a heavy price for the year gone by.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has informed the Supreme Court that the special committee constituted to look into the issue of restoring 4G internet in Jammu and Kashmir decided against resuming the services. The United Nations Human Rights Council in 2016 declared internet ‘a fundamental right’
