"Finding Abul Abbas means a couple of things. First it shows that terrorists saw Iraq as a safe haven, a place to live. Secondly, something else we have found and we've been seeing all along, Iraq shows that they have been seen as a location and have been permitted to conduct terrorist training camps as well. And we've found those as well."

STORYLINE
The capture in Baghdad of the Palestinian mastermind of a 1985 ship hijacking shows "that terrorists saw Iraq as a safe haven, a place to live", a US military spokesman said on Wednesday.
Abul Abbas was captured by American special operations forces on Monday night during one of several raids in and around Baghdad.
US officials view Abbas' capture as a major win in the campaign against terrorism and a vindication of President George W. Bush's charge that Saddam Hussein's regime in Iraq was harbouring terrorists.
Speaking in Qatar, Marine Major Stewart Upton also commented on the ongoing violence in the tense northern Iraqi city of Mosul.
