GV. Start of women's 100 metres race. They start and straight away Madeleine Weston goes to the front followed by 18 year old Pam Wyatt. Newcomer is having a rare battle to beat off the Poles. She starts to draw away from them and closely follows Madeleine Weston to the tape.
GV. Pan start of the women's 200 metres race. They're off. camera pans with them. June Paul on the inside as they turn into the straight. June Paul starts to run through, she is in the lead. J. Dudderidge is struggling hard to gain second place. SV. Towards June Paul as she breaks the tape with Swatowski second.
SV. Mike Ellis swinging the hammer. He releases it and wins the hammer throw.
SV. Pan the start of the men's 5000 metres race. LV. Pan, Laurie Reed (Gordon Pirie's pupil) slightly ahead of Pirie and they are followed by the two Polish athletes. SV. Spectators looking on. LV. Pan as the two Poles (Krzyszkowiak and Zimny) take up the running with Reed third and Pirie last. GV. Crowd rising to their feet. LV. Pan, the two Poles who are chasing Pirie, we pan forward to see Pirie out on his own well in the lead and looking over his shoulder. GV. Pirie as he breaks the tape. SCU. Pirie putting on his track suit. SV. Pirie embraces the two Poles.
