Conrad Sangma’s National People’s Party (NPP) has withdrawn its support for the BJP-led NDA government in Manipur. The NPP, the second-largest ally with seven MLAs in the state government. He cited the failure of Chief Minister N. Biren Singh’s administration to restore normalcy as the reason for their decision. This withdrawal does not pose an immediate threat to the government. While BJP maintains a comfortable majority with 37 MLAs in the 60-member Assembly, the withdrawal indicates a further erosion of support for the administration on the ground.
