RUMBA New Yorker Armstyling by Dance Insanity
#1 Zombie Arm
You wanna start by keeping your elbow bent, then straightening your elbow and keeping the wrist bent, straightening the wrist, and finally stretching your fingers. So, there is nice development and articulation of every single joint though your arm.
#2 Chicken Wings
Develop your arm and extend it, and straighten your whole arm (meaning your elbow your wrist and your fingers).
#3 Floppy Arm
In this variation you’re going to thread the needle, keeping your elbows bent and your arm very close to your body, your arm goes straight up. See how my palm is facing back, and when my arm is fully extended, then I rotate my palms out. All the time keeping your shoulders down.
#4 Shoulder Twisting
As I’m developing my arm, notice that my wrists are in line with my shoulders. Now I’m gonna take my whole torso and my frame with my arm and rotate it around my spine. So, it looks like my arm is behind my body, but really, I’m just rotating my whole body, so you can see… to there.
#5 Palms Facing Front
Keep your palm down and stretch through your fingers.
