World Wide Trekking provides some helpful tipping guidelines for our guests. These guidelines help you along the way in Tanzania. You’ll want to be tipping on the Kilimanjaro climb (both staff and guide), Kilimanjaro safari (driver), and around the lodge (hotel services and bag porters). Other tips are included in the cost of your trip such as: tips after meals, tips after airport transportation, etc. An appropriate tip for hotel services and excursions is about 10 percent. On the mountain we’ll have waiters, cooks, porters, guides, toilet attendants, etc. We recommend that each guest budget $250 for the group tip pool which is exchanged for Tanzanian shillings and redistributed individually to all of our staff. On the Kilimanjaro safari trips, we recommend that each individual contribute $50 to the group tip pool for your safari driver. Lastly, the recommended tip for your western guide is about $200. Tipping is of course at your discretion, but this guide should help you become familiar with the local tipping customs.
