Canadian Lancaster engine start after 25 hour service, Friday 19th September 2014. First engine to start is #4, the loaned BBMF RR Merlin. #1 engine fails as the two Techs, Jim and Rick (my old school chum) watch on in hope.
Happily the engine magneto problem was cured the next morning and VeRA was able to join BBMF Thumper on the last of the UK airshow tours held at Blackpool/Southport before going on to the Derwent Dam on Sunday 21st September 2014. Returning then to RAF Coningsby for final checks before home to Hamilton,Ontario.
I'd like to thank the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum and the BBMF for the fantastic work they did bringing these two icons of time to the UK sky's for all to see and hear. Well done indeed.
