'St Petersburg Blast Kills Russian Military Activist and Wounds Several People'

This is the moment an explosion ripped through a cafe in Saint Petersburg on Sunday evening.

The blast killed a prominent military activist and wounded more than 30 people.

Vladlen Tatarsky was meeting members of the public when he was allegedly given a box containing a statue that exploded, according to Russian media.

He was a vocal supporter of Russia's war in Ukraine and had accumulated more than 560,000 followers on Telegram.

The Interior Ministry confirmed everyone at the cafe at the time of the blast was “checked for involvement.”

Russia’s state investigative committee said it has opened a murder investigation.
