China's first cross-sea high-speed railway started system debugging and testing when a test train pulled out of Fuzhou South Railway Station in eastern Fujian Province on May 20. The construction of the railway connecting the provincial capital and the port city of Xiamen commenced in September 2017. The line extends 277.42 kilometers passing several port cities, including Putian, Quanzhou and Zhangzhou, and across three bridges over Meizhou Bay, Quanzhou Bay and Anhai Bay. The trip between the two cities is expected to take less than one hour, with a maximum designed speed of 350 km/h.
