forgiveness.
this is a big topic. The world/society says to get revenge on others, don’t forgive them, but we don’t live by what the world says, we live by what the Word of God says.
Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
Now, forgiving someone doesn’t mean you say the words, and then you ignore them or treat them unkind. that’s putting yourself back into darkness. Your words and actions need to match.
A prayer I say almost every day is, “God, I forgive every person I come in contact with today.” That goes for anyone in-person and online. Prayer is powerful. Prayer works.
Praying to forgive someone can be really difficult at first, but after I’ve done this time and time again, forgiveness helps you to let go of the bitterness, anger, resentment, etc. and it helps you to see them the way God sees them. Forgiving doesn’t always mean forgetting, and if boundaries need to be set then pray about that and ask God to give you guidance on it, but please let God heal you and let the bitterness leave. It’s not serving you or that person well.
Matthew 18:21-22 Then Peter came to him and asked, “Lord, how often should I forgive someone who sins against me? Seven times?” “No, not seven times,” Jesus replied, “but seventy times seven!”
