On a global scale, Uganda is not known for landslides but these have intensified in the recent past with above normal rainfalls and the wanton environment degradation around Mt Elgon slopes.
On March 1st, 2010, the lives of hundreds of Bududa residents were taken in the most heartbreaking of nature’s cruelty. That day; they had woken up, done their chores, conversed, and laughed, before retiring to their places of abode in a drenched evening, only for disaster to strike in the night.
Ten years after the harrowing incident, life has since gone back to normal in a district part of which has been flagged as uninhabitable and it is not a matter if, but when the next disaster will happen.
