How to Form an LLC in New York under the State Statute 203 which allows a resident to apply for a Limited Liability Company to transact business under a private entity.

Steps
1 Choose Your LLC Name. - The first step in forming an LLC in New York is choosing the name for your business. It is best to keep in mind the industry you are in and the best way to brand your company.
To see if your name has already been registered, check the New York LLC Search.
2 Fill-Out New York Articles of Organization. - This is the official form for applying for an LLC in the State of New York. You will need to download and completely fill out this form either on your computer or printed out in neatly written black ink.
Attach filing fee of $200 made out to the Secretary of State.
Mail the form and filing fee to the following address: New York State Department of State, Division of Corporations, State Records and Uniform Commercial Code, One Commerce Plaza 99 Washington Avenue Albany, NY 12231
3 Wait for Documents. - Now you will have to wait for your documents to come back via standard mail. The processing time in New York is usually between 10-15 business days.
4 Publish your LLC in Newspaper. - Within 120 days of receiving your official LLC in the mail, you will need to publicly announce your LLC by publishing an ad in 2 separate newspapers that serve the county the registered office is located. The newspaper company will provide a Certificate of Publication which will need to be filed along with $50 and submitted to the following address:
