NASA engineers are performing a shake test of the Tiltrotor Test Rig to characterize the dynamic response of the system. A 12,000 pound hanging mass provides the backstop for a hydraulic shaker in order to provide up to a thousand pounds of vibratory load at the rotor hub. The shake test will identify resonant frequencies of the TTR, which will inform NASA of what rotor and wind speeds can be safely tested once wind-on testing begins later this year.
