This facial recognition integration with the access control system at CCTV Camera Pros is a proof of concept to show how a face detection event can trigger external alarms and access control devices. CCTV Camera Pros does not currently recommend using face detection as a security way to grant door access in access control systems. This may be recommended in the future. For now, it is just a fun project to show off the functionality and integration ability of Viewtron AI cameras and network video recorders.

The IP camera is hard wired to a Viewtron NVR (network video recorder) using CAT5 Ethernet cable. Some people call these DVRs. Typically when you refer to recorders for IP cameras that use an IP network, they are called NVRs.

Please note that the face recognition software is built into both the camera and the recorder. The two devices work together to make a complete system.
The alarm output of the Viewtron NVR is wired to an alarm input on the access control panel. When a face is detected at the front door, the NVR checks a list of faces in the authorized users list database. This is software is built into the NVR. If there is a match, the alarm output on the NVR is triggered.
When this triggers the alarm input on the access control system, the exit button that controls the front door is enabled. This releases the magnetic and mechanical locks on the front door for 5 seconds. This configuration is done on the web interface of the access control system.
There are additional alarm types that can be triggered on the NVR based on face detection events. These include a mobile push notification (Android and iPhone), email alert, video pop-up on the NVR monitor, alarm buzzer, and output any other type of external alarm device that can be integrated. The NVR has multiple alarm output ports.
Viewtron AI security cameras support the following AI functions, in addition to facial detection / face match database: vehicle detection (cars and motorcycles), people / human detection, and license plate recognition (LPR) / automatic number plate recognition (ANPR). Please note that in some cases, these cameras can be setup to work over a wireless bridge (WIFI) using an optional add-on wireless system. This system is used for long range outdoor WIFI. You can see how we do this using a bullet style AI camera, and a license plate recognition camera on a pole at our warehouse property in this video.
