Today I headed to the old town of Bangkok (Phra Nakhon/Banglamphu) to sample three Thai street food dishes in one area. I want to help you find authentic Thai street food wherever you are staying in Bangkok by giving you these little DIY food tours in every area of the city.
I'm joined today by the wonderful @Emilysrichala. and @opalstoryofficial so make sure to get over and give them a follow 🙏
A lot of people have been asking me what the difference is between kuay teo tom yum and tom yum goong so I thought I'd take you to Bang Lamphu in Bangkok's old town to show you the difference.
Bang Lamphu is best known for being home to the infamous backpacker street - Khaosan Road but there is far more to this area than that. If you head a couple of streets over, to Thanon Kraisi, you'll find one of the best Tom Yum soups you could hope to have anywhere in Bangkok.
Walk 10 minutes round the corner and you'll find Jae Pui Fluffy Pork Noodle, a third-generation shophouse selling some excellent tom yum noodle soup with bouncey handmade moo ding meatballs.
Bangkok's Chinatown can be a bit overwhelming if it's your first time in Bangkok as it's so big, so I thought I'd do some videos to help break it down into sections so you can get some awesome street food wherever you go.

My name’s Gary and I’ve been living in Bangkok for the past nine plus years and travelling Thailand for over ten. I’m obsessed with Thai street food and it’s that obsession that led me to start this YouTube channel. I want to share my favourite hidden spots in Bangkok and the rest of Thailand so you can fall in love with authentic, local Thai food as much as I have!
I’ve never understood travelling to a town or city and not eating the local food. How else do you really connect with a place? Let’s get out and explore together and I guarantee you’ll find a whole different side to this wonderful country.
If you love seeing off the beaten path, non-touristy, local life and authentic local life in Bangkok and Thailand then this is the channel for you. If go go bars on the Sukhumvit Road are more your thing (I’m not judging) then maybe not!
