Just made a short video while upgrading the GPU and RAM my MacPro 4,1 from 2009.
I’m now rocking the following hardware:
- Intel Xeon W3680 Hexa Core i7-990X
- Sapphire Pulse Radeon RX580 8GB
- 32GB RAM
- Main drive: Samsung SSD 250GB
- Various storage drives with a combined 6TB storage.
I’m hoping this setup is going to last for about 3-4 years in the future.
It has no problems editing 4K and rendering out videos in real time.
If I get my hands on a cheap working dual CPU tray in a near future I may also upgrade into a 12 core machine.
