I show how you can safely treat a fish ulcer or bacterial wound with a topical treatment of potassium permanganate under sedation. It is a very effective chemical but potentially confusing if you are not familiar. This approach has worked very well for my fish but must be combined with identifying and addressing the route cause of the ulcer which will usually be down to high levels of ammonia or nitrite and/or parasites.
