Testing Variable ND Filters on Panasonic G85 / G80 Lumix
I went out to test my new Variable ND filters on my Lumix G85 / G80, well technically I went out to test the CPL filters, but the sun went in, so this is an extremely non-scientific look how a Variable ND filter can impact your footage.
No settings were changed on the camera for the duration of filming - 24fps / SS 50 / ISO 200 / lowest F-Stop possible - I am using the ND filter to try and enable me to keep the image properly exposed in bright daylight with those settings to keep the 'cinematic feel'. With photos, you would use them to allow you to drop the aperture / increase shutter duration in brighter conditions to allow you to either narrow your depth of field or increase the movement in your photo... at least this is my understanding, if you know better, please let me know in the comments!
