My lovely assistant here demonstrates quick how historical Sword on Back techniques do actually work. This was not widespread in Europe probably due to the fact that you'd need a second scabbard for storage or weather protection. The katana on back was a ninja technique (and yes, consistent with Antony Cummins' research.)
