This is a drive on Pennsylvania State Route 1046 in Westmoreland County. SR 1046 serves the Borough of Ligonier as Main Street and is the former alignment of US 30 prior to the creation of its 4-lane bypass. SR 1046 starts at US 30 east of Ligonier and ends at US 30 west of the borough. Parts of the former 1913 alignment of The Lincoln Highway follow SR 1046 through Ligonier. Despite serving the borough and being an old alignment of US 30, SR 1046 is not designated as Business US 30.
Pennsylvania’s 4-digit state routes are mostly secondary routes, although some have a major purpose and do serve towns. The 4-digit state routes stay within their respective counties and are not unique, meaning that there are multiple state routes with the same numbers across the state. The numbers of the 4-digit routes follow a pattern where a county is divided into 4 quadrants. 1000 numbered routes are in the northeast quadrant, 2000 routes are in the southeast quadrant, 3000 routes are in the southwest quadrant, and 4000 routes are in the northwest quadrant.
