This video will be probably one of my last Japan features.
It took me almost 1 year to finish this project and I hope I can visit Japan again some day.

This video is about the Tōkaidō Shinkansen which connects Tokyo in the Kanto region with Nagoya in the Chūbu region and Osaka in the Kansai region. Most scenes are from Tokyo station, so please don't expect any high-speed shots!

The Tōkaidō Shinkansen itself was the world's first railway line with a maximum speed of 210km/h and is the most heavily travelled high speed rail route today.
The opening was timed to coincide with the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, which had already brought international attention to the country.
There are three types of train services:
°Nozomi: The fastest one, it has limited stops. (Tokyo-Shin Osaka ~2h 30min)
°Hikari: Slower than Nozomi due to some additional stops (Tokyo-Shin Osaka ~3h)
°Kodama: The slowest Shinkansen service, stopping at all stations (Tokyo-Shin Osaka ~4h)
In both directions there are about 250 trains per day.
The Tōkaidō Shinkansen is owned by JR Central and features also through operation to the JR West Sanyo Shinkansen from Shin-Osaka to Hakata (Fukuoka) in Kyushu.
