New tenders are out, involving routes 55, 56, 87, 219, 230, 432 and N87. Five routes will continue to use their existing buses. One route will be converted to a full electric allocation. And new electrics have been ordered for one other route.
Firstly, route 55 has been retained by Stagecoach. The route will keep its existing New Routemaster hybrids. The peak vehicle requirement will decrease from 33 to 29. Route 55's contract starts on the 1st of March 2025, And ends on the 2nd of March 2029.
Route 55 runs from Walthamstow Central to Oxford Circus. Via Leyton, Lea Bridge, Clapton Pond, Hackney, Bethnal Green, Hoxton, Shoreditch, Old Street, Farringdon, Holborn and Tottenham Court Road.
Route 56 has been retained by Stagecoach. The route will use existing hybrid double deckers. The peak vehicle requirement will decrease from 19 to 18. Route 56's contract starts on the 1st of March 2025, And ends on the 3nd of March 2028.
Route 56 runs from Whipps Cross to St Bartholomew's Hospital. Via Lea Bridge, Clapton Pond, Hackney Downs, Dalston Junction, Essex Road, Islington High Street, Angel Station, Barbican Station and St Paul's Station.
Routes 87 and N87 have been retained by GoAhead. These routes will keep their existing New Routemaster hybrids. The peak vehicle requirement of route 87 will be increased from 18 to 19. The peak vehicle requirement of route N87 will remain at 13. The contract for routes 87 and N87 start on the 31st of May 2025, And end on the 1st of June 2029.
Route 87 runs from Aldwych to Wandsworth. Via Charing Cross, Trafalgar Square, Westminster, Parliament Square, Vauxhall, Nine Elms, Wandsworth Road and Clapham Junction. Route N87 runs from Aldwych to Kingston. Via route 87 to Wandsworth, then Wimbledon, Raynes Park and New Malden.
Route 219 has been retained by GoAhead. The route will be converted to a full electric allocation. Existing electric single deckers will replace the Wright StreetLite diesels. The peak vehicle requirement will be increased from 11 to 12. Route 219's contract starts on the 31st of May 2025, And ends on the 28th of May 2032.
Route 219 runs from Clapham Junction to Wimbledon. Via Wandsworth Common, Tooting Bec, Tooting Broadway, Colliers Wood and South Wimbledon.
Route 230 has been retained by GoAhead. Brand new electric double deckers will replace the Enviro400 EVs. The peak vehicle requirement will remain at 11. Route 230's contract starts on the 21st of June 2025, And ends on the 18th of June 2032.
Route 230 runs from Wood Green to Upper Walthamstow. Via Turnpike Lane, Tottenham High Road, Tottenham Hale, Blackhorse Road, St James Street, Walthamstow Central, Leyton, Whipps Cross and Wood Street.
Route 432 has been retained by Arriva. The route will keep its existing Gemini 2 hybrids. The peak vehicle requirement will decrease from 12 to 10. The daytime frequency will be reduced from every 10 to every 12 minutes. Route 432's contract starts on the 5th of April 2025, And ends on the 7th of April 2028.
Route 432 runs from Brixton, To Anerley Station. Via Tulse Hill Station, West Norwood Station and Crystal Palace.
New electric vehicles may enter service after the contract start date. This is dependent on infrastructure and/or vehicle delivery timescales.
