Meanwhile in Germany hundreds of climate activists are in a standoff with local authorities in the condemned village of Lützerath.
The village is set to be swallowed up by the expansion of the Garzweiler mine operated by local energy company RWE.
But activists have dug in setting up inside abandoned homes.
This, despite a court order to evacuate the area
Authorities say protesters have until Tuesday to leave, after which clearance operations begin.
The standoff comes as the country faces an energy crisis brought on by Russia's war on Ukraine that has left Germany without much-needed gas supplies.
Despite Germany's previous moves to rely less on fossil fuels the shortfall is now being partly addressed by using more coal.
